Title: Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1)
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Publication Date: May 7, 2012
Synopsis: In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.
The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.
Why?: I've heard SO many good things about this series, so I guess it's time I should start it. I love fantasy books, and this one just sounds really great.
Expectations: After all of the hype surrounding this series and this book, I have pretty high expectations. I expect to fall in love with the characters and the world and want to pick up the next book immediately once I finish!
Judging a book by its cover: I actually really love this cover. I love the colors and the way the girl looks and how her hair is flowing all around her but she still looks super intense. She is not a girl I would want to mess with! I would definitely pick this book up if I saw it hanging out on a shelf somewhere.
