Today, we are really excited to be a part of the blog tour for Crushed by Eliza Crewe, the sequel to last year's Cracked! Ashley loved Cracked, and you can find her 5-star review here. You can also check out our author interview with Eliza if you missed it last year.
This time, we have Eliza's Playlist for Crushed! This list is really fun, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did! You can also visit the rest of the tour schedule by clicking on the banner above.
But first...
About the Book
Author: Eliza CrewePublication Date: September 22, 2014
Cover Artist: Dominic Harman
Synopsis: Meda Melange has officially hung up her monstrous mantle and planted her feet firmly on the holy and righteous path of a Crusader-in-training. Or, at least, she’s willing to give it a shot. It helps that the Crusaders are the only thing standing between her and the demon hordes who want her dead.
The problem is, the only people less convinced than Meda of her new-found role as Good Girl are the very Crusaders she’s trying to join. So when a devilishly handsome half-demon boy offers escape, how’s a girl supposed to say “no?”
After all, everyone knows a good girl’s greatest weakness is a bad boy.
About the Author
Eliza Crewe always thought she’d be a lawyer, and even went so far as to complete law school. But as they say, you are what you eat, and considering the number of books Eliza has devoured since childhood, it was inevitable she’d end up in the literary world. She abandoned the lawyer-plan to instead become a librarian and now a writer.
While she’s been filling notebooks with random scenes for years, Eliza didn’t seriously commit to writing an entire novel until the spring of 2011, when she and her husband bought a house. With that house came a half-hour commute, during which Eliza decided she needed something to think about other than her road-rage. Is it any surprise she wrote a book about a blood-thirsty, people-eating monster?
Eliza has lived in Illinois, Edinburgh, and Las Vegas, and now lives in North Carolina with her husband, daughter, hens, an angry, talking, stuffed dwarf giraffe, and a sweet, mute, pantomiming bear. She likes to partially-complete craft projects, free-range her hens, and take long walks. Cracked is her first novel.

OK GO - Invincible
“When they finally come, what'll you do to them?
Gonna decimate them like you did to me?
Will you leave them stunned and stuttering?
When they finally come, how will you handle them?
Will you devastate them deliberately?
'Cause I'm gonna guess they won't be prepared for
Thousand Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes
Invincible, (Invincible, oh oh oh)
you're invincible
That crushing, crashing, atom smashing, white hot thing
It's invincible
So, please use your powers for good, please use your powers for good.”
Skylar Grey - Love The Way You Lie #3
“On the first page of our story
The future seemed so bright
Then this thing turned out so evil
I don't know why I'm still surprised
Even angels have their wicked schemes
And you take that to new extremes
But you'll always be my hero
Even though you've lost your mind”
This song captures Meda’s feelings as she joins the Crusaders. When Cracked ends, Meda throws herself in with the good guys--but as with evil, it turns out “good” has a lot of grey.
Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?
“Are there some aces up your sleeve?
Have you no idea that you're in deep?
I dreamt about you nearly every night this week
How many secrets can you keep?
'Cause there's this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow and I play it on repeat
Until I fall asleep
Spilling drinks on my settee
(Do I wanna know)
If this feeling flows both ways?
(Sad to see you go)
Was sort of hoping that you'd stay
(Baby we both know)
That the nights were mainly made for saying things that you can't say tomorrow day”
Stay - Rihanna/Mikko
“All along it was a fever
A cold sweat hot-headed believer
I threw my hands in the air, said, "Show me something,"
He said, "If you dare, come a little closer."
Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now, tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know.
Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you.
It takes me all the way.
I want you to stay”
These two are all about Meda and Armand. She knows he’s a bad idea, but she just can’t resist.
A Great BigWorld - Say Something
“And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all
And I will stumble and fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl
Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you”
This song was ALL OVER the radio while I was writing Crushed. I couldn’t escape it if I wanted to. Fortunately, I think it captures Jo and Meda’s crumbling relationship perfectly.
Jo is the first friend Meda’s ever had, and it’s the strength of that budding friendship that saved them in Cracked. But once they’re back in the “real” world, their friendship starts to fall apart, and Meda doesn’t know how to put it back together.
Hozier -Take Me To Church
“My lover's got humour
She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshiped her sooner
If the heavens ever did speak
She's the last true mouthpiece.
Every Sunday's getting more bleak
A fresh poison each week
'We were born sick,' you heard them say it
My Church offers no absolutes.
She tells me, 'Worship in the bedroom.'
The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you—
I was born sick,
But I love it”
From Armand to Meda.

This is Meda’s theme song. I listened to this one a LOT when I wrote the first book, and it carried through to the second.

A huge thank you to Eliza for stopping by again! Definitely be sure to check out her books, especially now that you can read both Cracked and Crushed!
