Night Terrors by Tim Waggoner - Ashley's Pre-Reading

*I received this book as an eARC from Angry Robot on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Goodreads

Title: Night Terrors (Shadow Watch #1)
Author: Tim Waggoner
Publication Date: May 27, 2014

Synopsis:
It's Men In Black meets The Sandman.

Meet the fine men and women of the NightWatch: a supernatural agency dedicated to hunting down rogue nightmares that escape from other realms when people dream about them, while ensuring that other dream-folk are allowed to live among the regular, human population… as long as they play by the rules.

Why?: I think the idea of dreams and nightmares entering the real world sounds really interesting, especially when there's a group of people regulating which ones can stay and which ones have to go. Also, Men in Black meets The Sandman? That had me hooked by itself!

Expectations: I honestly have no idea what to expect from this book. I definitely think it will be a darker urban fantasy since it deals with nightmares in the real world and all, but I think at some point it will have the humor and fun of Men in Black. Also, I'm not really thrilled about the thought that there might be clowns in it (based on the cover), but hopefully the clown ends up being one of the good guys (I doubt it...).

Judging a book by its cover: This cover kind of reminds me of something out of a Tim Burton movie, especially the way the font and title look. I am not overly thrilled about the clown on this cover (I hate them.), but I think it's interesting regardless. I also like how the background is sketchy looking, and I like how the people and the title look over it. I'd probably pick it up off the shelf, even though there's a clown.
